Being organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), the competition is now open for registration, being part of the international Emirates Photography Competition, also organised by ADACH and supervised by the Abu Dhabi International Association of Photography.
Just like in the previous year, the Al Dhafra photo contest will only accept images taken from the festival. Its main purpose is to encourage the photography movement in the UAE, but also to promote the festival by attracting photographers from all over the world.
Participants are expected to highlight the daily events of Al Dhafra Festival with creative high-quality images. The images should depict the beauty of camels and their relationships with people or show the environment of the festival and the beauty of nature in the region that surrounds it.
The competition is open to anyone of any nationality, gender and level of professionalism, but applicants must be residents of the UAE. Maximum five photographs are allowed from each participant and only pictures taken at the festival are accepted.
These must be sent by mail as digital files on CDs or DVDs, accompanied by competition forms completed in English. The name and address of the photographer should be visible on each CD or DVD. Photos must be in JPG format only, with a resolution of no less than 300 DPI. The deadline for submissions is February 15.
The first prize will be Dh20,000, the second Dh15,000, the third Dh12,000 and the fourth Dh10,000. Consolation prizes and certificates of recognition would also be given.
