A Pakistani man who married for the second time without taking permission from his firs wife has been fined and jailed.
When Ayesha Bibi found out that her husband Shahzad Saqib had married another woman without her permission, she immediately approached a local court.
"To get married without your first wife's permission is breaking the law," she said in her appeal, according to a report carried in Dawn.
She requested the court to declare this second marriage illegal.
Judicial magistrate Jawad Naqvi, upon hearing her plea, awarded her husband six months in prison and a Rs200,000 fine.
