Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here on Tuesday and discussed with him important matters including security situation in the country.
The meeting was also attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi.
The army chief apprised the premier of headway made in operation Zarb-e-Azb and actions taken under the National Action Plan.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the Pakistan army's actions against the terrorists and expressed his resolve to continue operation till the last terrorist is eliminated.
They affirmed that the terrorists will not be allowed to regroup in the country.
Sources said that both the leaders expressed their grave concern over Attock tragedy and agreed on arresting and bringing the perpetrators to justice at every cost. They also voiced concern over violations of ceasefire agreement by India.
Agenda of talks between National Security Advisers (NSAs) of Pakistan and India also came under discussion. Adviser to the PM on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz briefed the meeting in details with reference to agenda of talks. The army chief was taken into confidence on this count.
Sources said that matter of security situation with Afghanistan and India also featured in the meeting. -
