This clarification comes in response to the claims of Ebrahim Al Zarouni, Principal of Al Thaqafa Private School, that his school had been granted a grace period by the education zone to operate from the villa this year until the completion of the new school building.

The Director of Sharjah Education Zone stressed there was no approval, written or spoken, for any of the schools to operate from villas.

The official also said that the owners of Al Thaqafa School have constructed a new school building, but instead of moving there, they have rented the building to a different school, while continuing to operate from the same villa themselves.

She said the decision to bar schools from operating out of villas came after a ministerial decree.

Meanwhile, Al Zarouni filed his complaint with the office of the Minister of Education on Monday, arguing the rules for closure did not apply to his school. He said his school had presented the required documents to the Private Education Section, stating they were in the process of building a new school building, which would be completed in a year after which they would shift there. Al Zarouni said an approval was granted for the same.
