During and after the unprecedented rains and flooding on April 16, many went above and beyond to help the country recover

Al Rais Travel has previously served the GCC, Middle East and the US market for inbound tourism but, Al Rais Travel Assistant Director Mohammed Al Rais said the company had expanded its focus at the International Travel Bourse (ITB) Berlin.
"It's gone very well," Al Rais said. "Our objective was to get the maximum inbound tour operators.
"We have five agreed - Ukraine, Turkey, Armenia, Germany and Tunisia. And we are still negotiating with others."
Already this meant a predicted three to four hundred extra tourists in March and April, with Turkey likely to be the largest contingent.
"We're maintaining and growing them (GCC, ME and US) but we want to concentrate on Europe," he said.
"Statistically in Dubai, Germans and Europeans are most of the travellers to Dubai and we want a share of the cake."
This focus would later expand to attract travellers from the UK and then from France.
