Motorists urged to stick to safety rules

SHARJAH - The Sharjah Police have urged motorists to adhere to traffic safety rules on National Day, and strictly follow the norms regarding the authorised way of celebration as announced by the Ministry of Interior.

People celebrating should not paint the vehicle’s windows in the design and colours of the national flag and place stickers or posters in the front.

Motorists are allowed to write patriotic words expressing their happiness in a way that would not hinder the driver’s vision.

The vehicles must not have more passengers than the allowed capacity and people must not sit on the roof of the vehicles or on the windows while the they are moving. Motorists should not drive recklessly or carry out stunts as they can hamper the traffic flow and harm other motorists and road users.

They are also not allowed to spray paint on their cars and conceal the registration plate numbers, or change the vehicle’s colour or instal modified accelerators. They are allowed to place the UAE flag in a way that doesn’t endanger the passengers. They can put stickers on the side doors.

Traffic Patrolling Department personnel will be on constant vigil. The department hoped that the celebrations would not result in any fatal accidents this time.
