Mohammed visits Liwa dates fest

ABU DHABI - General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces visited the Liwa Dates Festival on Friday. The event will conclude today.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed lauded the success of the festival and thanked the participants who displayed their products.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamid, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, said the dates festival along with Mazayin Dhafra Camel Festival had catapulted the Western Region on the regional tourist map.

Bin Butti said more than 50,000 visitors from across the country and the GCC region visited the fair.

The Ruler's representative said all the visitors enjoyed the dates festival during which date farming families displayed their techniques. The event also featured an exhibition of antiques as well as heritage items for which the Western Region is famous.
