Man jailed for having sex with saleswoman
DUBAI - The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance yesterday sentenced a Pakistani driver to six months in jail followed by deportation for having consensual sex with a Filipino saleswoman.
The 25-year-old convict was originally charged with forcibly molesting the Filipina.
The 39-year-old Filipina said during interrogations that she was returning with her colleagues in her company's minibus after the shift around 1am on April 6 this year. "Usually I am the last one to be dropped. As we reached my place, the driver stopped the vehicle in the parking lot, locked his door and came to me after drawing the curtains. I felt very scared. Though I told him I had my menstruation period, he molested me and asked me not to tell anybody," she said.
"The following day, he asked me whether my period is over but I ignored him and told my superior about the incident." Later, she reported it to the Bur Dubai police station. However, the Filipina's friend testified that she knew that both the driver and her friend had an affair and were planning to marry later.
