Sajid Mahmoud, the deceased, stabbed his roommate, Sheikh Saleem, following an argument over money paid for his residence visa. Sheikh left the house, which was occupied by several Asian bachelors in Al Bustan Area, bleeding and threatening to lodge a complaint against Sajid with Ajman Police.
Sajid, in turn, told his Korean roommates, who had witnessed the incident, that he would hurt himself in order to tell the police that the attack was in self defence.
Speaking to City Times, Brigadier Rashid Mujlad, Head of the Investigation Section, said that the roommate of the deceased called the operation room at 7.45 pm on Saturday to inform the duty officer that Sajid was bleeding profusely. But, by the time the police arrived at the spot, he was already dead. Forensic tests confirmed that the death was due to a deep cut in a vein in the thigh.
The police said that two eyewitnesses from Korea had narrated to the police the whole incident. They also told that Sheikh was in the hospital in a serious condition.
The case was referred to the Ajman Public prosecution. The prosecution is waiting for Sheikh's recovery for more interrogation.
