The preparations for schools were completed by Ajman Medical zone in coordination with Ajman Traffic and license Department and Ajman Department of Municipality and planning. Many of the schools handicapped by lack of teaching staff were provided with new teachers for all subjects, while other schools obtained partial and comprehensive maintenance and cleaning services.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Acting Director of Ajman Education Zone, Khalil Ibrahim said that comprehensive maintenance services and provision of school tools including tables, chairs, black boards were provided to Al Rashidiyah high School, Sawdah bint Zumma elementary school and Ammar bin Masfoot Intermediate school.
He pointed out that although all this achievements in terms of the preparation for the new academic year, there are several school required replacement of air conditioners and installation of Umbrella to protect its student from the heat of the sun. The educational zone referred the issue to Ministry of Education as part of the shortfall in schools funding, but no action was taken by the ministry to solve this problem since two years. “The Educational zone could only provide technical teams to repair the defects in these air conditioners and electricity connections and other technical needs,” he added
Mr. Ibrahim noted that this new academic year will witness the opening of new high school for girls in Al Jarf District which was established on the request from the local residents .
Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Ajman Department of Municipality and planning said that as part of the department's road maintenance and construction plan, the Municipality paved streets leading to schools to safeguard their health and help them reach school on time. The department had prioritised this project for completion before the beginning of the new academic year.
Obaid Al Jarah, Head of the Health Section said that the section in coordination with Educational Zone and Students Health Programme has formed a committee to select 16 companies that implement the health regulation to supply schools with nutritious food. These companies will be monitored by the health inspectors throughout the academic year.
Brigadier Ali Saeed Al Matroushi, Director of Traffic and Accident section of Ajman Traffic and Licensing Department said that during the last two terms there was big number of traffic accidents which caused deaths of many school students in various parts of Ajman. Therefore, the department decided to prevent mishaps involving schools buses and other vehicles during this academic year by carrying out traffic safety awareness programme to educate students about importance of following safety procedures. Training classes and lectures on traffic regulation were already provided to drivers of school buses under a special programme launched in the run-up to schools reopening after vacation.
