Since 2004, the award is being given to outstanding graduate students of Higher Colleges of Technology from different professional streams every year.

They are selected for their overall academic performance in professional programmes. The award ceremony was organised under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of Higher Colleges of Technology, honoured students with awards and encouraged them for their relentless efforts in their studies.

The Abu Dhabi Industry Award is given to students by a group of leading organisations and companies of Abu Dhabi emirate, representing a wide spectrum of Abu Dhabi industries and as members of Programme Advisory Committees (PAC) of the HCT.

Safeya Abdulazeez Shamsan Mohamed Al Mqtri, a student of Biomedical Engineering Technology at the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (Cert) in Abu Dhabi, said, “This is a big achievement that our efforts are being acknowledged by leaders. I am too exited to receive this award. Such kind of honour precisely gives us an impetus to move ahead.”

“We are very fortunate to have quality education here and we quite satisfied with educational methodologies which Cert adopts here,” Al Mqtri said.
