A helpline at 800111 has been set up by the foundation to help women and children take control of situations of violence or prostitution. “On an average we receive around 25 to 30 calls in a day enquiring about what are the signs of abuse and asking for solutions,” said Baheia A. Derweesh, Care and Rehabilitation Director at DFWC. Federal Law 51, instated in 2006, has laid down strong measures against all forms of human trafficking. “We try finding out cases of human trafficking from Dubai Police and airports and work with them to send the victims back to their native place,” said Afra Al Basti, CEO of DFWC.
The foundation operates with federal funds and private organisation support, and partners with international NGOs and foreign embassies.
