Fujairah authority announces photo contest

FUJAIRAH — An open photo competition for professional and amateur photographers will be organised under the theme ‘Our Heritage’ in Fujairah, the Fujairah Authority for Culture and Information (FACI) announced yesterday.

Eng Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, FACI Board Member, told a Press conference yesterday that the photo contest would be the maiden activity of the FACI programme for promotion of local culture and development of talents.

''The first annual competition will focus on the slogan ‘Fujairah Forts : Civilisation and Originality’. Deadline for receiving entries is March 21 and results will be announced on April 4,'' he added.

The contest, he indicated, will be a valuable addition to the visual heritage archives in Fujairah in particular and the UAE in general.

The organising committee has selected four sites for shooting snaps which are the the Forts of Fujairah, Hail and Bathna and the Bidea Mosque. First, second and third winners will get a cash prizes worth Dh7,000, Dh5,000 and Dh3,500, respectively. Distinguished works will receive certificates of appreciation.

The competition is open to UAE nationals, expatriate residents and visitors. The judges panel will be headed by Jassim Rabea, professor of photography at the faculty of fine arts at the University of Sharjah.
