As per the court papers, the incident happened in the parking lot of a hotel in Dubai Marina on March 19.

The complainant was coming out of a bar at a late hour when he saw the football player, whom he recognised, arguing with another Emirati.

As he approached them to broker peace, the player shouted at him and asked him to go away or he would beat him up.

Soon after, the defendant's friend came after the complainant offering to sort things out.

As they reached the parking lot, the footballer brandished a revolver and asked the complainant to get down on his knees or he would shoot him.

As the victim knelt down, the player kicked him in his chest and then shot in the air.
