Five die in Sharjah road accidents

SHARJAH - Four nationals and a Pakistani died and two Kazakhs were injured in three accidents on Al Madam-Al Showaib Road in Sharjah in the space of four to five hours on Thursday morning.

In the first accident around 10am, three nationals, including two women, died on the spot when their car rammed into a heavy vehicle that had suddenly emerged onto the road from a side entrance without the driver ensuring safety. The truck driver, who escaped unhurt, was taken into custody by Al Dhaid police. In the second accident at the same place, when a 27-year-old Pakistani truck driver tried to take a turn without ensuring that the road was clear and crashed into a car driven by 23-year-old UAE national, who died on the spot. In this case, too, the truck driver was not injured and was taken into custody.

In the third accident, a 34-year-old Pakistani died and two Kazakhs were seriously injured when their vehicles collided. The injured were being treated at Al Dhaid Hospital. afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
