Mercury is set to rise to 41ºC in Abu Dhabi and 39ºC in Dubai
Major-General Mohammad Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, said the move is deeply engraved in the culture and traditions of the Emirati society. “We want to mercifully enhance social communication with the detainees.”
Major Khalaf Al Ghaith, assistant director for investigation and illegals’ affairs, said the initiative mirrors the tolerant teachings of Islam. “A meeting is held with the illegals to enquire about the reasons behind their detention in a friendly atmosphere,” he said. Pledging quick procedures, Major Ghaith urged all illegals in the country to surrender to the bodies concerned.
“This will help settle their breach of residency in lieu of the immigration rules adopted here.”
Employing an illegal or an employee under the sponsorship of another employer is against public interest. “As per Article 181 of the Federal Code No 7/2007, a jail term of not less than two months and a fine of Dh100,000 shall be imposed on any establishment that recruits or provides shelter to any infiltrator,” he said.
“A fine of Dh50,000 shall also be slapped against any employer who provides work to any employee not under his sponsorship,” he Ghaith said, calling upon entry permit holders to contact AMER service on 8005111 for help in case of fraud.
