To see smiling faces definitely has a soothing effect and if those faces are of hard-working labourers, then it shows that they are being taken care of.
The fifth edition of annual philanthropic mission "Smile on the Face", a non-profit event, has accomplished its mission of bringing joy to the lives of about 10,000 labourers in Dubai this Ramadan. The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Tamquest Events gifted Iftar meals to labourers across the emirate every Friday throughout the holy month. Gifted every Friday from June 10 to July 1 2016, each meal box contained Biryani, dates, juice, water and fruits and an additional care package filled with daily-use items like shampoo, toothpaste, soap, talcum powder, t-shirts, caps, creams and roll-ons etc.
"With this benevolent venture, Tamquest wants to reach out to as many labourers as possible. Providing food parcels and basic necessities for labourers during the holy month of Ramadan is a great way to give back to society," said Zona, Events Director of Tamquest Entertainment.
The excitement could be seen in the workers lined up to receive their goody bags.
"I feel so lucky to be part of this event as we are few fortunate ones to get so many things of utility without spending a penny. I will send these to my wife and my daughters back home and I am sure it will bring smile on their faces as well," said one of the labourer at the ASGC - Metro 1 camp in Al Qouz.
The inititiative was sponsored by Dubizzle in association with Mashreq Bank and was co-sponsored by Dubai Investments.
Explaining their contribution to the initiative, Razan Al Masri, Mobile Product Marketing Manager at dubizzle, said: "We are very proud to help bring happiness to thousands of labourers across the UAE through the 'Smile on the Face' initiative by donating Dh1 to the charity for every ad placed on dubizzle app during the holy month."
"At dubizzle, we strongly believe in giving back to those in need, thanking and supporting the community which has supported us for the past decade," Razan added.
Other sponsors of the initiative were Channel 4 Radio Network, Zee Network, Unilever, CMS printing press, Kibson, Santoor, Klear Water, Masafi & Fine Hygienic Paper.
