Founded and developed by Emirates Investment and Development in partnership with the Bin Hendi Enterprises, the Centennial University of Dubai campus was launched yesterday and a large number of students are expected to enrol for the various programmes that are offered this year.
The curriculum, teaching methods and support services at the Dubai campus will be provided by the Canadian faculty teaching on the university campus in Canada. The curriculum will be tailored to suit the local needs of the students, said Buti Al Ghandi, chairman of Emirates Investment and Development Company, adding, “We are happy to establish a partnership with Bin Hendi Enterprises in bringing to Dubai Canadian higher education.”
The Centennial University in Dubai will help students in gaining academic skills as well as vocational experience as part of their education curriculum, he added.
The university will offer international articulation agreements where students will be allowed to transfer credits to university programmes being offered in universities in Canada, Australia and the US.
Mohi-din Binhendi, president of Bin Hendi Enterprise noted that the university will be open to both local and expatriate students.
Licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education, the university is well equipped with the latest technology and has a state-of-the-art environment made up of buildings, laboratories and other facilities.
The university offers many flexible options including one-year certificate, two-year diplomas, three-year diplomas and four-year degree programmes. For the 2006-2007 academic year, the university offers education choices from Education, Health and Environmental Studies, Engineering Technology and Applied Science (SETAS) and Business.
Centennial also operates a School of English that helps develop a student's English language capability and language skills.
