Ban on Greece poultry

DUBAI — Greece was yesterday added to the long list of countries by the UAE imposing a temporary ban on import of poultry, birds and poultry products following cases of bird flu outbreak reported by international health organisation.

A decree was issued by Saeed Al Raghabani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, urging concerned local departments and quarantine sections of the ministry to take strict measures and prevent import of birds and poultry from Greece.

Adopt a tree

DUBAI — The Westminster School has once again led the way in environmental caring through a scheme whereby students "adopt a tree" and will care for the tree over the next years. The scheme is an excellent example of collaboration between teachers, parents, business and Dubai Municipality.

UPU meetings

DUBAI — A high-level Emirates Post delegation, led by Director-General Abdullah Al Daboos, participated in various meetings of the UPU Council of Administration (CA) in Berne, Switzerland, from October 10 to 21.

The delegation took part in various important meetings and contributed significantly to different issues on the agenda.

SHARJAH — In compliance with the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, to strengthen the academic work atmosphere for the teaching staff, Dr Ismail Mohammad Al-Bishri, Chancellor of the University, inaugurated the Sharjah Social Club for the university teaching staff on Sunday.
