Contestant Noor Abdul Razaq Shakeeb, the representative of Bahrain in the 11th edition of the International Hashemite Competition for the Memorisation and Recitation of the Holy Quran, held on April 8 to 13, clinched second place in full memorisation of the Holy Quran, topping 21 female competitors from the Arab and Islamic world.
The Bahraini contestant is one of the dividends of a programme by the Holy Quran Directorate of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry which aims to teach the Holy Quran and prepare contestants for international competitions.
The competition, which is organised for the 11th consecutive year, is considered the first contest in the Arab and Islamic world with a specialised female jury in Holy Quran recitation.
