New roads and centres for children are part of new developments planned by the local authorities in Al Falah, one of the largest satellite towns of Abu Dhabi city area.
To decide what is most needed here, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADCM) organised a Multaqa (meeting) forum last week between authorities and residents.
During the meeting, Owaida Murshid Al Murar, chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), announced the formation of a special committee to establish direct communication with Al Falah residents, identify their needs and find out the best ways to develop the area as fast as possible. "I call upon residents to raise suggestions and queries without hesitation," stressed Al Murar.
Major-General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, said the police will get more involved by deploying patrols, communicating with community members to identify their views and suggestions, and assess their satisfaction level with the services on offer.
"The Abu Dhabi Police are now in the process of launching a number of community initiatives aimed at activating the role of the community in preventing crime. These include an initiative to fill the youth's leisure time during vacations with useful activities and events," he said.
The DMAT has established Al Falah Centre, which started receiving customers from Sunday. The new centre brings services offered by the ADCM, Abu Dhabi Police, Musanada, housing authority and Tadweer (waste management) under one roof for Al Falah residents.
Some of the requests made by Al Falah residents include more roads, house maintenance, a health centre, more frequent police patrols and approving building extensions to the existing villas to cope with the number of family members.
