You may have heard about how to reduce, reuse, recycle products and but Arab artists Maysoon and Bassam recently gave a whole new meaning to what we call trash or recyclables.
The duo used 500kg of recovered wood, 20kg of old newspapers, 175kg of used cardboard and 200 recycled plastic bottles to create waste management services firm Dulsco's stand at the at EcoWASTE 2017.
It was one of the largest recycling logos created with the help of recyclables at EcoWASTE 2017, organised as part of the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
The smiling Emirati child in the centre of the recycling logo is a collage created out of old newspapers and depicts that sustainability initiatives that Dulsco takes today will ultimately result in the smile of the future generation, said Indranil Dutta, Director, Dulsco Abu Dhabi.
"Small actions and combined efforts lead to larger than life results. A testimony to the fact is the largest recycling logo created with recyclables, which is the highlight of Dulsco's stand at EcoWASTE," Dutta added.
The unique stand was created to educate the youth about the various ways to recycle the products during the EcoWASTE event. Visitors at the stand got a chance to write down their sustainability message for the future and put it inside one of the bottles in the bottle wall. This being the year of giving, for every message put in to the bottle wall, Dulsco will plant a ghaf tree.
"We regularly design programmes to educate the youth at various forums. The idea is to support them in taking the responsibility of taking care of the planet and also educate their own parents and families. The most important fact is to motivate them and ensure them that their efforts will not go waste."
