One of the airport employees accused of stealing $2,600 (Dh9,500 approx) from a passenger's bag at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 has admitted to committing the crime. Charges will be filed against him and another staff member who served as his accomplice.
According to the Filipino Times, Rienielle Alvarez admitted to the crime after the authorities showed him security footage of him and another worker - Nievel Gorpe, taking money from the bag of a Taiwanese tourist. The duo committed the theft on August 30, local reports said. A $100 bill was also recovered from his person. The duo works as airport screeners tasked with checking the luggage of passengers.
His accomplice, Gorpe, denies the crime even after he was shown the video evidence.
