130kg Woman Winched to 3rd-floor Flat
FUJAIRAH — When in trouble, call the police. That’s what we have been told. That’s exactly what Muna Garib Hassan, a housewife in Fujairah, did.
She couldn’t haul herself up to her third-floor apartment in a building here. Understandable when she weighs 130kg. She had just gone out to buy some provisions in the morning. The lift was working then. By the time she returned, the landlord disconnected the power supply to the building to force tenants to vacate the apartments so that he could rent them at higher prices, she complained to the police.
The police knew they couldn’t handle all of 130kg. They called the Civil Defence personnel who finally winched her to her apartment.
Not amused by the landlord’s mischief, the police have now referred the complaint to the Fujairah Municipality to summon him and inquire why he has been disconnecting power supply to the lift off and on for the last three months.
