Video: 'Sleepy' son upstages father during inaugural speech

The new Governor of California was in the middle of a speech in Sacramento.

New Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, was in the middle of a speech in Sacramento when the audience's attention was deviated from his inaugural address. Newsom's two-year-old son named Dutch clutching a blanket and a pacifier, wandered up the stage to his father.
At the time Newsom's son went up to him, he was acknowledging the importance of housing in the "California dream". Newsom quipped as he lifted his son into his arms, "Now more than ever, we Californians know how much a house matters and children matter." The crowd broke into laughter and Newsom kissed his son who snuggled up to him. 
The 51-year-old new governor held his on through the next few minutes of his speech, which covered the importance of supporting families and early childhood education, issues he campaigned on. "In our home, every child should be loved, fed and safe. My wife Jennifer and I have four children, and there's nothing more important - I hope you can tell - than giving them a good and happy life," TIME quoted Newsom as saying.

He went on to say that all children, regardless of economic or immigration status, deserve a good life in California and should not be "ripped away from their parents at the border."
Newsom's toddler son stole the show as his father gave his first speech as Governor of California. It took a few attempts to get the boy down the stage as both his mother and brother failed. Finally the video on BBC shows, with duos combined effort Dutch's mother Jennifer is able to grab him and carry him away.
