It turned out to be a hilarious turn of events when a thief's pickup truck got stolen while he was busy robbing a store across a street in Washington.
The clever thief called up police when he noticed someone drove away with his truck but had not anticipated that his burglary was caught on surveillance camera.
According to Kennewick Police Department, they received a call a man identified as William Kelly, informing them about his 1992 Chevy pickup truck being stolen.
Kelley told police that a bike-borne thief had stolen his pickup as he had left the vehicle's keys on the seat inside the truck. However when police reviewed CCTV footage of the incident, a shocking truth was revealed that showed the complainant involved in a store robbery.
The Kennewick Police Department shared surveillance footage on Facebook along with a caption: 'Video was obtained of the incident and a new fact was discovered. Kelley was at the location because he was stealing items from a business across the street'.
The footage posted on Facebook shows the vehicle thief putting his bike in the back of the truck and driving away as Kelley runs after him. Police have still not been able to track down Kelley's truck, NDTV quoted Tri-City Herald reports. While according to CBS News, Kelley was booked in the Benton County jail on a warrant and a burglary charge.
The hilarious post on Facebook amassed several surprised comments with one person writing: 'Is there no honor amongst thieves?? Sigh, the world we live in', while another joked: 'That's the fastest I've ever seen karma work'.
