Motorists can come up with bizarre ideas to avoid fines for driving in dedicated lanes, but one Arizona man's efforts to fool the police is leaving netizens in splits.
The 62-year-old man was caught driving with a fake skeleton tied to the passenger seat so that he could use the carpool lanes without any hassle. According to the BBC, the fake skeleton was wearing a camouflage bucket hat pulled over its eyes and was tied to the seat with rope.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the driver was given a penalty ticket for HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) and window tinting violations, reported UPI.
Warning other motorists against trying the same tactics, the department posted on Twitter the photo of the fake skeleton and wrote: "Think you can use the HOV lane with Skeletor riding shotgun? You're dead wrong!" with the hashtags "#NiceTry" and "#YoureNotHeMan".
The department stated that around 7,000 drivers in Arizona were caught violating HOV rules every year. Last April, a man was caught driving in an HOV lane with a mannequin wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses to avoid rules preventing drivers with no passengers from driving in particular lanes.
