Woman in Dh500,000 jewellery theft held

AJMAN — A woman has been arrested in connection with a spate of thefts reported from a jewellery group’s outlets in Sharjah, Ajman and Dubai. Nearly 2kg of gold and diamond jewellery worth Dh500,000 were stolen from Damas jewellery outlets in the emirates in the first week of December, the police said.

Sharjah traders get 3 months to hand over counterfeit goods

SHARJAH — Traders dealing in counterfeit goods in Sharjah will soon be given a three-month grace period to hand over the products to the civic body, a Sharjah Municipality official has said. “Those who return the goods in time will be spared fines and penalties,” said Saif Al Hisn, head of the Fraud Control Section at Sharjah Municipality.

Fair seeks Indian participation

SHARJAH — The Sharjah Department of Culture and Information (SDCI) has urged the Indian Book Association to expand their participation in the Sharjah Book Fair by displaying books not just in English but in all languages prevalent in India in order to attract a larger number of Indian expatriate readers.

Sharjah to set up translation institute
