Brilliant Al Wahda thrashed Al Ain 5-1 to qualify for the Arabian Gulf Cup semifinals at Zayed Sports City Stadium on Friday night.
In the Capital derby, Al Wahda played some beautiful football as Al Ain struggled to match the class during the goal fest. In as early as third minute, Al Wahda found the back of the net from Balazs Dzsudzsak free kick but got ruled offside. However, just five minutes later Al Wahda bagged their first goal. Rim Chang-woo's attempt got rebounded from the post but Mourad Batna was right at the spot to score.
In 31 minutes, Al Ain found an equaliser as Ahmed Khalil scored from a perfect through pass from Omar Abdulrahman. Just before half-time, Al Wahda regained lead as Tareq Al Khodaim converted from Chang-woo's dipping cross into the box.
It was an even contest until 62 minutes when Al Wahda made it 3-1. Dzsudzsak took a throw in aimed at Al Ain box and striker Sebastian Tagliabue lobbed it past Al Ain keeper Khalid Eisa.
Al Wahda began to dictate terms and in 78 minutes Mohamed Al Shehhi made it 4-1 from Tagliabue's setup inside the box. And two minutes later another goal came from the left flank as Mohammed Al Dhahri scored.
Apart from Al Wahda, other semifinalists are Shabab Al Ahli, Dibba and Al Wasl.
