In response to request made by a woman on air, His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the building of a nursery inside the Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah.
The woman employee who works at the hospital stressed the need for the nursery inside their place of work through a radio programme aired by the Sharjah Broadcasting Service.
Expressing her delight at the Sharjah Ruler's quick response, Amna Karam, director of the hospital, said: "The kind gesture of Dr Sheikh Sultan has brought joy to all the working mothers - doctors, nurses and paramedics, be it Emiratis or expatriates."
She paid rich tribute to Dr Sheikh Sultan when the radio presenter Mohammed Khalaf told her that it was a gift from Dr Sheikh Sultan prior to the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
In 2012, Dr Sheikh Sultan had ordered the construction of 66 nurseries in the emirate, out of his keenness in protecting the children to be kept in safe hands and prevent them from being neglected.
The latest decision comes in addition to other 19 nurseries in government schools, and the work is underway on executing the project, which is overseen by the Sharjah Education Council.
The public works department will carry out construction works. A number of the finished nurseries have been handed over and are ready to receive the applications.
