Two men to stand trial for blasphemy in Fujairah

The Fujairah Public Prosecution has referred two Arab young men to the criminal court for allegedly offending and blaspheming the Islamic religion.

The case goes back when the Fujairah police received a report lodged by the Accounts Manager of a private company operating in Fujairah claiming that two staff employees, both Arabs, identified as M.M and M.A, had uttered inappropriate words and profanities against Islam and the life after death continuously while being at the company's dining room.
Their acts had sparked uproar amongst the workers at the company, the manager told the police.
When summoned by the Fujairah police for questioning, the two Arab men denied the charges brought against them.
However, the public prosecution referred the case file to the criminal court so they could be tried over the charges leveled against them.
