Participation in the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition has always been a dream for full Quran memorisers worldwide.
Shaima Sabry Mohammed Al Mursi who was nominated by the ministry of endowment in Egypt to participate in this great global competition was not an exception.
The young woman, who just completed her secondary school, and brilliantly joined the college of pharmacy back home was so excited to chip in, but she was not aware how things would be in a few days.
Heading to Cairo the capital to get the visa, she had a gruesome accident that ended her life and badly hurt her brother.
"Shaima has always been so dedicated, dreaming, and grateful to her mother though she was an orphan long ago after the death of her father," her mother said in tears.
The student of pharmacy, based in Giza of Egypt, was amazingly a competent and accredited Quran teacher. "She lost her father when she was at grade-5, but this added to her firm will and determination."
Showing an exceptional performance, Shaima was nominated for the competition three months ago. "She was so decent and helpful to me and her three siblings despite her young age."
She was hoping to earn money in the future so as to look for and support anyone who wants to complete their studies, her mother added.
"She has ranked first in a famous local competition back home, following which I was awarded with an Umrah trip."
Though Shaima could not make it, the organising committee has invited her mother and brother to attend the competition.
"My beloved Shaima is not present in person, but I feel that her soul is hovering around the place, as she was always dreaming to chip in, and meet with this shiny procession of full Quran memorisers."
The distressed mother then prayed in tears for her departed daughter. "May Almighty Allah rest her soul in peace, and I hereby witness that she was obedient to me, helpful to everyone, and dedicated to her study, particularly the holy Quran."
