The Rawalpindi custom court on Tuesday convicted model Ayyan Ali by imposing a fine of Rs5 million for smuggling foreign currency.
The court also ordered that $500,000 seized from her possession while leaving for Dubai be forfeited.
The model was arrested on March 14 from Islamabad airport on charges of money laundering after being caught by customs officials with over half a million dollars in her luggage while boarding a flight to Dubai.
The Customs Court said that the accused failed to appear before the court despite issuance of multiple notices.
