In a scathing attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, former Karachi mayor Syed Mustafa Kamal on Thursday accused him of driving two generations of Urdu speaking youth to life of heinous crimes, death and destruction for selfaggrandizement enriching himself, family members and a small coterie around him.He reiterated the allegation that Altaf has been receiving funds from Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and pursuing a divisive agenda and isolating the 'Mohajir' community from mainstream politics of the country, branding its members as terrorists and agents of an enemy country.
Mustafa Kamal, who is also a MQM leader, dramatically returned to Karachi from Dubai early on Thursday morning along with an-other former deputy conveyor of the party, Anees Khan Qaimkhani, who flanked and endorsed the contents of his news conference.
Kamal left Pakistan in August 2014 and Qaim-khani followed two months later. Both have since been living and working in Dubai. In an emotional speech that lasted nearly two hours during which he broke down four times, he also announced the formation of a new political party, which he said is yet to be named.
He raised a Pakistani flag and said it is the official emblem of his newly-launched organisation. He denied being supported by the establishment. "I am not working on anyone's agenda." According to Kamal first proof of Altaf's links with India's spy agency emerged when Scotland Yard found evidence from Dr Imran Farooq's house after his murder.
Delving into details regarding Scotland Yard's questioning of MQM leaders, Kamal said, "Scot-land Yard questioned Mohammed Anwar, Tariq Mir and Altaf Hussain and presented all the documents bearing witness to Altaf and other MQM leader's relationship with RAW."In a startling disclosure, Mustafa Kamal said Altaf and some other senior leaders including Anwar and Tariq Mir confessed after initial hesitation to Scotland Yard that they have been receiving funds from India and sponsored criminal acts in Karachi to destabilise country's economic hub.
A briefing by Anwar and Mir was then arranged in Dubai for the then interior minister Rehman Malik and also main MQM leader-ship (including Mustafa himself) based in Pakistan where both leaders revealed all that they had told the Scotland Yard.Kamal also claimed, "Back at that time I also knew Altaf Hussain's people from the Indian and South African 'setups' were involved in killings in Karachi."We tried our best to keep Altaf Hussain from being exposed. Initially, he used to be out of senses at night due to excessive drinking, but now he stays intoxicated for days and weeks," stated Kamal while shedding light on current state of party affairs.
Kamal elaborated on reasons why he left Pakistan or has re-turned now and claimed that he feared for his own and family's lives, a fate met by several leaders. He said he has returned because his conscience forced him to re-turn and save children of the Urdu speaking community.
