Islamabad - Country's economic hub Karachi suffered its third massive power breakdown in five days with electricity supply being suspended to several areas since 10pm Saturday night.
According to the K-Electric, tripping of the 220kv Pipri/ICI transmission line disrupted supply to 10 grid stations.
The affected areas included Defence, Clifton, North Karachi, Nazimabad Block 4, Liaquatabad, Azizabad, F.B Area, Gulbahar, Kharadar, Lyari, Garden, Drigh Road, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim, Shah Faisal Town, Malir Khokhrapar, Korangi and several other areas.
K-Electric officials failed to announce the time for complete restoration of electricity in many parts of the city.
Meanwhile, according to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), over 540 million gallons of water could not be supplied to Karachi today due to the major power breakdown. - news@khaleejtimes.com
