Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in the Arab League summit on Friday that his kingdom is ready to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.
He also added that he hopes Syria's return to the Arab League will end its crisis.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Jeddah, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
The Crown Prince affirmed Saudi Arabia’s keenness and support for all international efforts aimed at resolving the Ukrainian-Russian crisis politically, and stressed its continued efforts to contribute to mitigating the ensuing humanitarian repercussions.
Zelensky praised the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Middle East and the world.
Speaking at the summit, Zelensky expressed his thanks to Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi people and Jeddah city.
"We came here for peace and justice and called to help the Ukrainian people," he said, expressing his thanks to the Kingdom for its efforts regarding the release of prisoners in Russia.
"We have a formula for a solution for peace in order to end the war," he said, demanding to deal directly with the problem of Ukraine without a mediator and work in a coordinated manner for the sake of peace for all nations.
The previously unannounced visit is Zelensky's first to the Middle East since Moscow's military operation in February 2022, giving the Ukrainian leader an opportunity to address leaders in the region.
