Amid a major Thanksgiving outage today, Facebook and Instagram have stopped working.
According to the Independent, users around the world complained that both networks, broke at the same time.
Many Facebook users said that they were able to get around the site as usual but certain functions, such as sharing new posts, were broken. Facebook Messenger was also affected by the outage.
The two apps, and Whatsapp, share much of the same underlying infrastructure as they are all owned by the same parent company. This means that problems on any one of the networks is likely to affect all three.
Mark Zuckerberg has stated earlier that Facebook plans to merge the three platforms so that they have one shared back-end. This will presumably mean that the apps are even more likely to go down together.
