Donning their club T-shirts and waving black flags, the Ultras were joined by supporters in the march from their club headquarters to the office of the prosecutor general, AFP reporters said.
They chanted against the interior ministry, which they say failed to prevent the violence in the northern city of Port Said which left more than 70 people dead, most of them Al-Ahly fans.
Many carried pictures of those who died in the football riot, pitting fans of Port Said club Al-Masry against Al-Ahly supporters.
The football violence sparked five days of clashes in Cairo and Suez that left 16 people dead.
The Ultras — the name given to organisations of hard core fans of several football clubs — played a prominent role in the uprising that overthrew president Hosni Mubarak a year ago. Commentators have fed speculation that pro-Mubarak forces were behind the massacre, or at least complicit.
Many believe the football riot was orchestrated either by the police or supporters of the ousted president, a reflection of distrust towards the ruling military, which took power after Mubarak’s overthrow.
