A major tragedy was averted at a pre-school in Sweden when a young boy brought in a live grenade he found on a military firing range. Panic ensued after the boy's teacher found the grenade in his hand and the national bomb squad was called to neutralise the explosive, Swedish news Thelocal.se reported.
The little boy apparently wanted to show the grenade to his friends at school in the southern town of Kristianstad. According to reports, authorities blocked off the area while the bomb squad neutralized the "dangerous" ammunition which took several hours.
"We don't know how bad the damages would have been" if it had exploded, a police spokesman said.
