Trivandrum — The Kerala police on Saturday registered cases against 25 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel in connection with murder of constable S S Yadav and the subsequent mayhem at the Karipur international airport on Wednesday.
Yadav was killed in the accidental gun fire from the pistol of CISF sub-inspector Sitaram Choudhary in the wake of a dispute over frisking of fire force officials attached with the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
The police have slapped culpable homicide not amounting to murder charge against Choudhary. The cases against others are in connection with the destruction of the airport property.
The CISF men had went on a rampage destroying property worth Rs10 million following the death of Yadav. Earlier the police arrested nine fire force officials in connection with murder and for rioting with deadly weapons and assault and preventing public servants from doing their duty. Police sources said that the 25 CISF personnel against whom cases were registered on Saturday will be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, the CISF has transferred 100 personnel, who have been found directly involved in the violent incidents at the airport, to Bangalore.
The transfer order was issued on the report of CISF Inspector General. The officials were identified from the CCTV clippings.
However, the Kerala police have raised objection against the transfer as they fear it may affect their investigation.
Many of the transferred officials figure in the case registered by them. — news@khaleejtimes.com
