Animal Love
Want to help your kids develop a love for the environment early on? A summer camp at Emirates Park Zoo and Resort, from July 2 to August 31, could help bridge the gap. The edutainment programme will see them partake in a series of interactive activities, while also gaining insight into the different species of animals. Designed for those aged six to 12, the camp will also help raise their awareness about environmental causes, such as endangering of animals, animal abuse, and wildlife conservation. Rates start at Dh159 per child for one day (Dh2,499 per child for one month). Visit www.emiratesparkzooandresort.com.
FIT KIDS
Don't let your youngsters while the summer away, sitting in front of the telly. Instead, help them get some indoor action and have a blast with a variety of different activities at Fit Inc's summer camp, available in Dubai throughout July. With gymnastics, parkour, yoga and a dance class, the camp will help them stay active while school is out. Open to kids aged 5-10 years; timings are from 9am to 12pm on weekdays. Prices start at Dh3,000 for the whole month, but catch the early bird offer and sign up before June 30 to save Dh1,000. Call 800-348462 for more info.
What's Hot for Team WKND
Playing it by ear
Forget gold or silver, my love for junk jewellery transcends all. Recently, I chanced upon the Instagram page of Trinketz By Cynthia, only to be blown away by some eclectic designs. From multicoloured, half-moon hoops to metal danglers to some bling-and-you-cannot-miss pieces, designer Cynthia De Souza De Silva adds a traditional touch to contemporary designs, making her pieces perfect for both formal and informal occasions. For now, I am gung-ho about these moon-shaped hoops (chaand balis), my Eidi for myself.

Being a unicorn
When you find an extremely cool-looking place online, you check it out in person, of course. Precisely why I ventured out to find Unicorn Vibes, a new ice cream parlour in Business Bay serving delicious flavours in an assortment of rainbow hues. My favourite was Cookie Monster, a sweet, bright blue concoction full of crushed Oreos that turned my tongue blue. You can order it on a colourful cone, perch on the swings there and take a picture near the giant wings wall art for an Insta-worthy snap. Enjoy.

Spiced up!
The extended weekend held out a promise for travel... okay, it was not going to be a long haul, but still. Obviously, I thought of Delhi - from where I'd returned a couple of weeks back. The more I thought, the more I wanted to go. Then, some well-intentioned friends (gently) forced me to take flight. All flights were booked up - except SpiceJet, that offered me a beacon of light to be ushered out of Terminal 1 late on Thursday night. The tickets set me back by a (whopping, many felt) couple of grand. But it's Eid after all!
