Describe your work in a sentence.
I design wedding dresses for women from all walks of life - in other words, I'm living the dream life.
The biggest learning point or experience in your life.
Having my children. I'm not ashamed to say that having children has pushed me to my absolute limits, both physically and mentally. I wasn't prepared for it. Every day throws up a new challenge, but regardless of how utterly exhausted I am, the love for those little people just keeps me going.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
There are so many parts of my job I love, but one of the best parts is the last fitting. When the bride's dress is ready and she puts it on and just floats around in it! You can stand back and see that all the hard work has paid off.
What advice would you give your younger self, if you could?
It would be to save money. I wish I'd saved every penny in my 20s so that I could do more now with my business in my 30s.
The number one item on your wish list.
A loft studio for an atelier, flooded with natural light and plenty of space for creating.
If you could move to any place in the world, what place would that be?
New York city, baby!
Favourite fictional character of all time - and why.
Edna Mode from The Incredibles. The woman did superhero fashion!
The best thing you've ever bought yourself and why?
A one-way ticket to Bahrain 10 years ago. I've never looked back since.
A superpower you wish you had?
I often wish I could stop time. That would be the best superpower. Modern life is so busy that time is just passing us by. I want to be able to press 'pause' sometimes and soak up my children whilst they're young, take stock of special moments and have a cup of tea in peace and quiet once in a while!
If you were head of your country, what is the first thing you'd do?
I'd fight to abolish fast fashion and put stricter sanctions on retailers, ensure factories got a fairer price and reduce the risk of outsourcing to 'cheap labour'. I'd start a national campaign to raise awareness about wasteful spending and disposable fashion and the damage it is doing - not only to our environment, but also to our children's future. They're growing up in a world where everything is accessible and nothing is valued. You can buy something one day and throw it away the next. What is that teaching them?
