Expect more cloudy weather today until Sunday as cumulus clouds accompanied by some rain, lightning and thunder with strong winds, which will stir up sand and dust to cause lower visibility in some exposed areas, according to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS)
Sporadic rain of varying intensity will fall on the west of Abu Dhabi, including the western coasts, the islands, Al Ruwais, Tarif, Madinat Zayed, Liwa and may reach Al Ain and some parts of the northern areas, especially coastal areas.
The centre has urged motorists to be more cautious, drive slowly and leave enough distance between vehicles due to winds aggravating dust and sand.
Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with northwesterly winds and aggravated dust and sand, which will lead to a drop in temperatures while very rough seas are expected in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman, added the forecast.
The NCMS has advised residents to take care in case of poor visibility due to blowing dust, raised sand and the rainfall. It also warned mariners to avoid going to sea during this period due to the rough waves, especially during cloud activity.
On Friday morning, parts of Dubai and Sharjah experienced light to moderate rains while scattered areas in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and adjoining areas also experienced light to moderate rains with lightning and thunder.
