The Dubai Police have arrested an Uzbekistan woman identified as N.K. and charged her for indecent acts. She allegedly sent her nude photos to 120,000 followers on social media and 30,000 on Snapchat.
The woman pretended to be an Emirati and gave the name of Laila Al Falasi. The General Department of electronic service department which checks websites launched an investigation to identify the woman who used to regularly send photos for herself in enticing poses. The police managed to identify the 35-year-old woman who was living in Sharjah and arrested her from a flat in Al Barsha, Dubai.
During police interrogation she said she came to the UAE 20 years ago and got married to an Emiarti. She confessed that she had created an account in the name of Laila Al Falasi on snapchat and that she has 30,000 followers.
"I use my phone to photograph my body while I'm dressing and even when I go to the toilet. And I send various types of photos to my followers on a daily basis even when I am driving or when I am in public places," she said. She claimed that she did all this to attract people, especially men. She said she was not aware that the UAE prohibited sending such kind of photos.
The woman has been referred to the Dubai public prosecution.
"Al Ameen service of the Dubai Police in the meantime warned people against such acts. It said people should not exploit social media for illegal and bad behaviour. It also called on the public to inform the police about any illegal activities.
