Sharjah Police have arrested a young Emirati for stunt-driving his vehicle on a public road.
According to a video circulated on social media, the man was driving his SUV only on the two right-hand-side tyres -- risking his own life as well as lives of others around him -- during a wedding celebration in Sharjah on Sunday night.
Stunt drivers to clean Dubai streets
Ahmed Saeed Al Naoor, Deputy Director of Traffic Department in Sharjah, said that the video showed the driver was performing dangerous and reckless stunts.
A team of patrols, traffic department and CID was formed immediately upon receiving the footage. Upon inspection, the police found that the driver had modified the car's parts, changed its original colour and removed the number plates.
"He was not only performing stunts but also committed many traffic violations that would expose him to tough legal action. The case has been referred to public prosecution," Al Naoor said.
Stunt drivers should be taught a lesson
During interrogation the driver revealed that he had performed stunts to celebrate his relative's wedding, and had removed number plates to prevent detection by the police.
