Social media is abuzz with reports of an unexpected guest at the coast of Fujairah. In this video posted on YouTube, a huge spotted whale shark can be seen caught in the net of oblivious fishermen.
After a lot of frenzy, the aquatic visitor was reportedly released into the sea.
The whale shark can be seen lying motionless trapped in the net as curious fishermen watched on and inspected the rare 'catch'. The whale shark appeared to be heavy, but harmless.
Fujairah is no stranger to whale sharks. Last year in December, a baby whale shark was caught in the fishermen's nets. Even in Dubai Marina last year, residents were pleasantly surprised to spot a baby whale shark.

The whale shark can grow up to 12 metres and weigh as much as 30 tonnes. Fortunately for humans and sea dwellers - their favorite meal is plankton. They gulp these tiny plants up, along with any small fish that happen to be around.
