A recent ad played across cinemas in the UAE has evoked mixed reactions among the residents.
The advertisement made by Leo Burnett Dubai for 'du Tuesday offer' was not only to promote du's 'buy one get one' promo for movies, but also to strike a relevant chord among moviegoers.
The ad plays on a very satirical tone about the noise and inconvenience one faces while watching a film. This includes munching on crunchy snacks, phones ringing and of course kids crying in the midst of a movie. The ad also took a jab at those who laugh loudly and sneeze strongly affecting those within their radius.
The advertisement tackled all of these cinema 'faux pas' in an extremely exaggerated manner that did not go well with some UAE residents. This prompted du to take down the advertisement 'out of respect'. Below is their statement in full.
