The Beit Al Khair Society, in collaboration with the Dubai Courts, has organised an Umrah trip for 20 orphans to bring them happiness in the Year of Zayed.
There are 1,824 orphans registered with the society, according to Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, general director of the society.
"A philanthropist, who wished to remain anonymous, has generously paid out the costs of the Umrah trip for some orphans, while the Dubai Courts took care of the remaining costs of others."
The move is part of the Orphans' Project, which is aimed to provide a stable and happy life for the orphans, support their families, and bring them happiness with cash and gifts on Eids and public holidays, he added.
"A variety of activities were also held to boost their feeling of social empathy, while education, training, and cultural opportunities are ensured for them in coordination with government and private entities."
The society, based in Dubai, has further distributed gifts to all staff employees to mark World Happiness Day.
Al Awadhi said they also contributed shopping vouchers to 23 indigent workers to buy their food needs from partner cooperative societies and centres.
"Beit Al Khair spares no effort to spread happiness among vulnerable families as directed by the prudent leadership," Al Awadhi said.
Al Awadhi said the society has developed its Ramadan projects which now include the 'Farha' (Joy) programme which is meant to bring happiness to listed families and cases during public occasions and holidays.
