The UAE, as well as the rest of the Earth will witness a total lunar eclipse for three and a half hours, according to Ibrahim al-Jarwan, a researcher in astronomy and meteorology and assistant director of the Sharjah Center for Space and Astronomy Sciences.
Al-Jarwan explained that the total eclipse of the moon, which will be seen in UAE, is the first one in two years, after the eclipse on September 28, 2015.
He added that the eclipse will start with a partial phase at 3:48pm UAE time and end by 7:12pm UAE time. The lunar eclipse will continue for 77 minutes, from 3:51-6:08pm.
The peak of the eclipse will be at 5:30pm, according to Al-Jarwan, who added that it will be seen in the country as the sun sets and the moon rises at 6:02pm. The lunar eclipse phase has taken off, while East Asia and Australia are seeing the astronomical phenomenon from its beginning, before midnight, the eclipse will be seen in the Pacific Islands, and in western North America before dawn.
