An Arab man was arrested in Dubai for faking a rent contract and official stamps in a bid to trick a government employee into issuing him a residency permit.

Public Prosecution documents dated the case back to November 13, 2019, when the unemployed Arab man submitted a fake rent contract that seemed to be approved by the Government of Sharjah. He also submitted a water and electricity bill on which he had faked government stamps.
On the day of the incident, the 35-year-old accused went to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to apply for a residency permit. Upon receipt of the fake documents, the employee asked him for more details about his accommodation.
The employee, who is a witness in the case, noticed that the man became nervous when asked where he lived. The employee checked the contract and discovered inconsistencies in details as well as the stamp.
The accused immediately confessed that the contract was fake and that he had not, in fact, rented an apartment. The employee reported the incident to the police, and the man was arrested.
The case was referred to the criminal court, where the man faces charges of faking government documents.
